April is Alcohol Awareness Month, and University Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and the Hamilton Area Community Coalition are partnering with STOP-DWI NY and the Hamilton Police Department to promote safe driving and reduce drunk driving in the Hamilton community.
As part of the campaign, the dealership is featuring informational banners and brochures in the showroom, as well as giving away promotional items. With every serviced vehicle or new vehicle purchase, customers of the dealership will receive info and giveaways related to DWI prevention and a reminder to maintain safe driving practices.
“The Hamilton Coalition is always looking for creative ways to keep safety messages fresh and relevant,” says Melissa Cassulis, HACC Program Coordinator. “Partnering with University Dodge has been a fun and non-threatening way to promote the safe driving message in our community.” The HACC thanks manager Chris Ducey, and the entire dealership staff for their outstanding community spirit and support of STOP DWI NY and driver’s safety.
STOP-DWI NY is a state-wide program that is managed locally by STOP-DWI coordinator Matthew White, a Deputy Sheriff with the Madison County Sheriff's Office. The mission of STOP-DWI is to reduce the number of persons killed or injured in alcohol and other drug-related crashes, to promote DWI prevention as a public priority, and to coordinate local efforts in law enforcement, prosecution, probation, rehabilitation, public information, education and administration.
There’s even an app to help you monitor your drink count or report drunk driving! The New York State Governors Traffic Safety Committee and the NYS STOP-DWI Foundation have created the “Have A Plan” mobile app. The app provides a timely and convenient resource that helps locate and call a taxi service, program a designated-driver list, provides education on Blood Alcohol Content levels, as well as information on DWI laws and penalties. The “Have A Plan” app is available for Apple, Droid, and Windows smart phones.
