HACC Brings Moms and Teens Together Through Art

July 13, 2016

The Hamilton Area Community Coalition (HACC) hosted an Art Party in Hamilton on July 12 to offer parents and teens a unique night out together and the opportunity to build their relationship through art.  The goal of the evening was to encourage moms and their teens to keep communicating - on fun topics such as summer plans and memories to more important issues like what to do in a tough situation or how to respond to pressure to use alcohol or drugs.

Each mother and her daughter created a painting of a sunflower, and when placed together, both canvases created a larger and complete design.  It was a lively evening, with art instruction led by HCS art teacher, Ashley Stagner, who did an amazing job bringing out the creativity in each person.  The final results were fantastic!  The finished artwork became a vivid illustration of how each family member brings a different perspective to an idea, but that together, we create a unified whole.
